Nikki Forova plays at Groovacious on Saturday!!

MUSIC & ART (and other interesting stuff)
CALENDAR FOR THE WEEK OF May 16, 2011
From the desk of Tim Groove, daily Groovacious updates on Facebook
GROOVACIOUS/GROOVEFEST AMERICAN MUSIC FESTIVAL
173 N. 100 W. CEDAR CITY, UT 84720 435-867-9800 www.GroovefestUtah.com

There are a couple of really great shows happening this week that I’m hoping you can make it out to!
On Friday, one of our favorite southern Utah Bands, ERIK THE RED, will be playing at Mike’s Tavern with BRONCO, out of SLC. That show begins at 9:00PM

Then on Saturday, we’re looking forward to the performance at Groovacious from NIKKI FOROVA, coming to us from Los Angeles via Russia…

“The music of Nikki Forova is as contradictory as herself – her soft but expressive voice, insightful and intimate lyrics, and her sunny and spirited nature touches and captivates the audience - an extraordinary journey lies behind her and Nikki’s songs, without question, reflect the impressions she received along that way.

Born into a family of passionate actors, since childhood Nikki literally has assimilated the atmosphere of a life behind the curtains. The fascination she exudes, developed from her parents’ performances on stage, and continues to this day.

Her way might seem to be predetermined but growing up in the heart of Russia when the Iron Curtain split the world in two has never been easy…”

If this looks intriguing, you can see the rest at Nikki’s website at www.nikkiforova.com. The show begins at 7:30PM.

*Celebrate 50 Years
For fifty years now, the Utah Shakespeare Festival has been producing exceptional theatre in rural southern Utah. The Festival produced its first season in 1962, attracting 3,200 spectators in two weeks. In 2010, almost 120,000 patrons viewed over 220 productions from June through October.

The excellence and growth of the Festival has been recognized with numerous awards, including the inaugural Best of State Award, the Distinguished Service in the Arts Award from the National Governors Association, and the coveted Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre.

The Festival now looks with excitement to its sixth decade. As Shakespeare said in As You Like It, “I will tell you the beginning, and if it please . . . you may see the end; for the best is yet to do.”
