About The Blank Tapes: The Blank Tapes is the moniker of Los Angeles / San Francisco based multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter Matt Adams, who has produced 9 albums of  “winsome pop tunes” (OC Weekly) and “Kinks-plus-Creedence roots-rock ‘n’ roll” (LA Record) recorded almost entirely by himself on an 8 track cassette tape recorder in garages, basements & sheds across the California coast.  Lately his band has consisted of Pearl Charles, DA Humphrey, & Will Halsey and the four piece recently toured Europe for their second time sharing stages with the likes of Thee Oh Sees and R. Stevie Moore.  Immediately before that, they toured Japan for their first time along with the director of the surf movie Stoked & Broke by Korduroy.tv (which includes over a dozen Blank Tapes songs in the soundtrack and has gained international acclaim within the surf community). Earlier this year, they also toured Brazil for their second time (after having 2 of their songs featured in TV commercials), not to mention all of the massive amounts touring they’ve done here in America.
While Adams and co. are currently finishing up a new studio album called Vacation (to be released in early 2013), the band is set to release their newest 7″, I’m Back on San Francisco’s 20-Sided Records! Also, the band recently released a wonderful cassette only release, Sun’s Too Bright, on Fullerton’s Burger Records. Before that they released a split cassette called Invisible Colors on Portland’s Curly Cassettes label along with a vinyl & CD of Home Away From Home on LA Records’ White Noise label, which showed a new psychedelic rock direction different than their previous folk rock albums. Aside from music, Matt Adams is also the artist behind all of his posters & album covers and has even worked for MAD Magazine at one point!
“We discovered this lo-fi unsigned band – which somehow evokes Belle and Sebastian, Pavement, and the Black Keys – in a San Fran coffeehouse (just like the old days.) Quick, somebody sign them!” -ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE
“The sunny sounds of L.A.’s Blank Tapes, who yoke a garage-pop sensibility to ferocious rock riffs.” -THE NEW YORKER
“The Blank Tapes. Full of lo-fi rock refrains you can get down to, “I’m Back” is the perfect tune to soundtrack your beach party” -UNDER THE RADAR
“Matt Adams and his band premiere perfect summer pop. The Blank Tapes are turning their sun folk sound into some of this summer’s best indie guitar pop, capturing the sound of golden West Coast pop like fire and lightening trapped in a jar.” -IMPOSE MAGAZINE
“#3 out of the TOP 5 LA Garage Rock Bands!” -LA WEEKLY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
GROOVEFEST AMERICAN MUSIC FESTIVAL
TO HOLD FIRST RUMMAGE & BAKE SALE
FOR THE 2013 SEASON
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2012
ST. JUDES EPISCOPAL CHURCH
9:00AM – 3:00PM

The Groovefest American Music Festival has not only become a much anticipated yearly annual event, but now so have the rummage sales connected with it.
The Groovefest Rummage Sale began in 2010 as part of the effort of raising much-needed funds that would go directly to paying the artistry who perform at the annual Cedar City event.
The rummage sale’s success has been so overwhelming that organizers decided to continue the sale as an annual event. The Groovefest rummage sales hold a second fund-raiser in spring each year. The addition of delicious baked goods makes the annual sale twice as fun!
Besides business and individual sponsorships, this annual event allows residents to feel like they are directly involved with the success of each and every Groovefest.
The 11th annual Groovefest will be held next year from June 24th through June 30th in historic downtown Cedar City , Utah . A children’s version of the festival is being planned in addition to the new LitFest – new to event during last year’s 10th Anniversary show.
The 2013 Groovefest will once again be joined by the Cedar City Arts Festival and be presented together on June 28th and 29th. This two-day segment of the seven-day festival will provide great music and visual arts in the beautiful Cedar City Main Street Park for everyone to enjoy!
Proceeds from the rummage and bake sales will not only supplement the many costs that are required to put on a festival such as Groovefest, but it will create awareness for the annual music and art event. In addition, there will be a massage chair set up for those wishing to relieve some aches and pains with a massage!
This year’s 11th Groovefest American Music Festival will prove to be the best Groovefest yet with its multiple activities and those events that have made the Groovefest American Music Festival what it has already been highly acclaimed for.

The 1st Groovefest Rummage and Bake Sale will be held on December 8th at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church at 70 N. 200 W. in Cedar City, from 9:00AM until 3:00PM.

This is the perfect opportunity to check out some bargains for your Christmas shopping as well as support a great event. Anyone who would like to donate to the cause of making sure that the next Groovefest is a success can drop off good sellable items to Groovacious at 173 N. 100 W.
Go to the Groovefest website at groovefestutah.com where you’ll also be able to find out information about being an advertising sponsor as well as all pertinent information regarding next year’s festival happenings.

Updates can also be viewed on the Groovefest American Music Festival Facebook page.

Groovefest American Music Festival and the Cedar City Arts Festival are committed to present and celebrate all forms of art and artists in a beautiful and unique Cedar City setting for residents and visitors alike.

What: Groovacious celebrates its 20th anniversary with a concert, trivia and prizes
Where: Groovacious, 173 N. 100 W. in Cedar City
When: Friday, November 9th, 2012

Record stores are an anomaly in the digital age. But there are stores all across the country that have stayed the course and survived the boom of i products, making them a standout in the communities they inhabit.
In an area like southern Utah, a record store may seem like an unusual business, but tourists from all over the world have recognized Groovacious as being something that they find nostalgic - a memory from the past that is held dear.
November 9, 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of Cedar City record store, Groovacious.

On November 9th, 1992, Groovacious opened its doors for the first time. Tim and Lisa Cretsinger, with many years of collective experience in the music business, moved from Portland to the capitol city of Salem, Oregon to open their store. After eight successful years with their business, they fell in love with southern Utah and decided to move their store to Cedar City in October of 2000.

A passion to get deeply involved in the local music scene has allowed Tim
and Lisa to help out and to spearhead many events in the area over the last
twelve years. Groovacious itself has become an institution; a real old-fashioned record store with people who know their stuff and can talk to customers about all kinds of music.

With stores of the same type going out of business all across the nation, Groovacious still keeps their finger on the pulse on what's new and hot as well as what's classic. The store has a large selection of CDs, vinyl, DVDs, tapes in all styles and genres. Music related paraphernalia is also sold.

"To stay afloat, you must stay involved," says Tim. "If we were just standing waiting for people to come into the store, we'd have gone out of business a long time ago."

Tim sites many functions that the couple have gotten involved with or started in Cedar City, such as;

- The weekly open mic is held every Wednesday at the store. This event has been going on for the past eleven and a half years. An off-chute of this event was the Cedar Songwriter Showcase, was extremely popular and ran for over two years.

- Groovefest American Music Festival, a now six-day music festival, just celebrated its tenth year and keeps going strong. The festival is one of the bigger events in Cedar City and adds something new every year.

- They started their own record label, Groovacious Platters in December of

2012 marks thirty -eight years that Tim has been in the music business and 22
years for Lisa.

"I've seen a lot change in thirty-eight years, remarks Tim. "But one thing has never changed - that is customer service. People still respond to good customer service. No matter what anybody says, you can't get that over the internet and a download will never say 'thanks for doing business with me'. Whatever shape technology takes, good human interaction can never be replaced."

That is the credo that Groovacious in Cedar City lives by - and they exist
purely for the love of music - their own and their customers.

To give a special thanks to those who have kept them going for the last twenty years, Groovacious will offer a 20% discount all day, Friday, November 9th.  A special concert performance by Steven Swift and friends, preceded by "Groovacious First Memories" by Charles Cuthbertson will be held at 7:00 PM with prize drawings and trivia throughout the show.

There will be refreshments served during the event.

Groovacious is located at 173 N. 100 W. in Cedar City. For information, call
