Groovacious Records Celebrates 23 Years in Business - Long Live the Independents !!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
GROOVACIOUS RECORDS CELEBRATES
23 YEARS IN BUSINESS
November 9, 2015

The music business has gone through many phases and changes since the little record store called Groovacious Platters opened in Keizer, Oregon in November of 1992.

Cassette tapes were still a hot commodity but the compact disc - who by that time had already taken a strong-hold in the industry - was by far the big format for people to buy their music. Vinyl records were pretty much a thing of the past.

After 17 years in the business working for other record stores, Tim Cretsinger, along with his wife Lisa, who had worked with Tim at a store in Portland (in fact, that’s where they met) decided to take the plunge and get into it for themselves.

The couple moved from Portland to Keizer, which is a suburb of the state’s capitol, Salem, got married, and then opened the doors to their new endeavor on November 9th.

With just a few rows of CD’s and tapes, along with Tim’s record collection, the two opened the store and have built it into the best record store in the state of Utah! Groovacious was moved from Oregon to Cedar City in the year 2000.

Now, recently, for many reasons and with a lot of help from their friends “”The Groove Crew”, Tim and Lisa had to move the store from it's original Cedar City location to a smaller, yet cozier spot.

The new space does not have a stage like the earlier incarnation did, but the couple hope to still be able to host some smaller performances anyway.

On November 9th, Groovacious will celebrate a milestone 23 years in business with a shindig featuring a couple of mini concerts by two of their favorite Cedar City bands, Full Tilt Boogie and Wilhelm.

In addition, the store will offer a 20% discount off of all merchandise (excluding electronics) as a thank you to their customers who have kept them in business for all these years. There will also be some light refreshments served.

Wilhelm will begin their set at 6:00pm and Full Tilt Boogie will play at 7:00pm. The new Groovacious is located at 195 W 600 S #2.  For further information call Groovacious at 435-867-9800
