Thanks to all who came Saturday, for Record Store Day. We offered deep discounts to everyone who bought music! Although we didn’t get all the cool releases available, we did get lots of beautiful vinyl re-issues and specialty items for those who took advantage, there are still some left, though the discount no longer applies.

Thanks again for a great Record Store Day on Saturday!! www.recordstoreday.com

** Big show!! OLD CALIFORNIO!! Thursday, April 21, 8:00PM at Groovacious. $5.00 at the door.  These guys will be playing at Groovefest this year – this will be a great opportunity to see them before the festival!
Here are a couple of great quotes and descriptions:
"These guys are hillbillies alright but they're Muswell Hillbillies and those crazy complex melodies are pointing forward, away from the ghost of Gram Parsons, and towards a brave new world of their own making."
-Mark Huddle, Trotsky's Cranium / Verbicide

"Old Californio lean as much on the rough, raw, homespun sound of Neil Young & Crazy Horse and the R&B-influenced, but pop-wise British Invasion stalwarts The Who and Faces as on folk and country elements. On stage, the quintet's positivity - so evident in their rambling “Mother Road,” as well as the more down-home “Just Like Joseph Campbell” - was infectious. There were hints of Grateful Dead-style filigree that flashed in the guitar work of Dembowski and Woody Aplanalp and the roiling sound of keyboardist Levi Nuñez. And the dynamic instrumental interplay between bassist Jason Chesney and drummer Justin Smith on the rumbling “Harmony” inspired memories of The Who's rhythm section John Entwistle and Keith Moon at full throttle." - Mike The Knife, MOG, live review
“Wearing the rootsy, organic heart of California on their sleeves, from bucolic harmonies to the traditional country song lines as aired on album opener “Mother Road”, a sense of freedom, one quite possibly inborn in bands of this geographical ilk, has allowed them to faithfully blend a definite sense of time and place (circa ’71 should do it) with a unique approach to what the music of that era means to them personally.”
– Richard S. Jones, Shindig!
"It’s too bad the magazine No Depression is no more, as Old Californio would surely be one of its cover stars. Led by songwriter Rich Dembowski, the Pasadena band masterfully blends folk, country and pop into a rich, satisfying brew. “
–Michael Toland, The Big Takeover

Old Californio are:
Rich Dembowski - Vocals & Guitar
Woody Aplanalp - Guitar & Vocals
Jason Chesney - Bass & Vocals
Justin Smith - Drums & Vocals
