Hello music lovers!!

We have a fantastic week coming up! For several reasons, but one very special one is the return of ANTIOQUIA to Cedar City this Saturday!!

Yes, the Groovefest favorites from Oakland are coming through southern Utah again and we have booked them for a couple of fun events. The first is an Afro-Columbian Drum workshop at Braun Books and then the full-on show at Mike’s Tavern later that night!!

You may remember their performance at the festival this summer – they were the band that brought all their drums out in front of the stage and the audience gathered all around and danced!

If you missed this amazing performance, make sure you don’t miss out on this second chance!

If you were there, make sure you attend and let’s live Groovefest 2011 all over again!!

They will be teaching drum rhythms from West Africa and Colombia at Braun Books at 25 N. Main St. in Cedar City. They have studied and lived in Guinea, West Africa and Colombia, South America and have performed heavily in the Bay Area and toured extensively for four years. They want to expose the beauty of these cultures through their music. No experience necessary! Bring a drum if you have one or one will be provided. Antioquia is playing at Mike's Tavern that night. See below. Call 435-586-8303 for more information.   www.antioquia-band.net

Saturday, October 15, 9:00PM: The return of Groovefest act ANTIOQUIA at Mike’s Tavern at 90 W. Hoover in Cedar City!  A drumming workshop is also in the works!  Birthed in Colombia and bred in the San Francisco Bay Area, Oakland-based Antioquia makes music that inspires raucous dancing and deep listening.  With influences ranging from Mahavishnu Orchestra to Afro-Colombian songstress Toto La Mompasina and traditional music from West Africa, Antioquia’s primary mission is to unite humans in the healing act of dance. Their earnest let-it-all-hang-out stage presence encourages the same from the audience, creating a feedback loop that builds momentum as standers-by are sucked into the dance floor. Peppered with fits of improvisation, bouts of silliness and fiery percussion pieces performed amidst the crowd, an Antioquia set is high energy, captivating, and anything but predictable.  You can count on each show to bring the audience closer to the stage and closer together. Admission for this show is just $5.00 at the door the night of the show. Call 435-867-5990 for more information.  www.antioquia-band.net   www.MikesTavernCC.com
