Monday, January 16, 6:00PM: 3rd Annual Martin Luther King Day Ceremony at the Main Street Tabernacle in St. George, presented by The Washington County Minority Coalition along with the gang rehabilitation group IMPACT of Southern Utah. There will be several keynote speakers scheduled for the event including, the Reverend Bishop Scott Hayashi of the Episcopal Diocese of Utah, Ricky Wilkins co-founder of the Coalition, and Ron Current co-founder of the Coalition and founder of IMPACT of Southern Utah. This event is free and open to the public. All are invited and encouraged to attend to help honor the legacy of Dr. King and how we can apply his philosophy into our lives today.
Tuesday, January 17: NEW RELEASE DAY AT GROOVACIOUS! The new releases are beginning in earnest this week and from now on they appear to be extremely abundant! Tuesday, January 17 – February 4, 12:00PM – 7:00PM, Tuesday through Saturday: SUMA, the Preview, to get you excited about the reality of SUMA – the Southern Utah Museum of Art, at the Braithwaite Gallery on the SUU Campus at 351 W. Unieversity Blvd. in Cedar City. Fundraising is progressing and organizers hope to break ground in the first half of 2012. This event is to help answer any questions you might have, such as: What will the museum look like? Exactly where will it be? What happens to the Braithwaite? How will this benefit my children? How can I volunteer?, etc. Here is the chance to get those questions answered and get a sneak peek at the designs and materials. Admission is free and, if you go for one of the Community Nights, Thursday, January 19 or Thursday, January 26, from 3:00PM to 7:00PMPM, there will be docents available to answer all your questions.
